Department of Marine Biology and Environmental Sciences

This department accepts anyone eager to understand the mechanisms of nature and the aquatic environment with considerable interest and anyone keen to help safeguard the aquatic environment. The future of the Earth depends on the conditions of the ocean and the Earth is the only planet supporting significant water among the solar system. The ocean is the key ecosystem in terms of absorbing carbon dioxide and the Earth’s heat balance. This department offers studies that allow students to acquire general knowledge of the environment and aquatic organisms and become experts capable of handling issues concerning the environment in general and the production and utilization of organisms.

This department is willing to accept:

  1. Those who have basic knowledge of biology and general sciences
  2. Those who are interested in protection of marine animals and aquatic environment
  3. Those who are much interested in production and utilization of aquatic organisms
  4. Those who are much interested in physiological functions of aquatic species
  5. Those who wish to work as professional in discovery and development of new species of animals and materials of unprecedented properties

Department of Animal and Grassland Sciences

This department specializes in sciences that support the production of high-quality and safe animal products. More specifically, it pursues sciences to recycle limited quantities of self-sufficient resources while reducing labor, energy and financial costs; focusing on domestic feed production. This department offers studies that allow students to acquire basic and applicable knowledge of stockbreeding and become experts capable of proposing solutions to domestic and international issues concerning food, agriculture and the rural community while improving the self-sufficiency ratio of foods and feed and considering the natural and social environment.

This department is willing to accept:

  1. Those who have basic knowledge of biology and chemistry
  2. Those who are interested in breeding of animals and/or growing of plants
  3. Those who are eager to find harmony of animal production with the natural environment

Department of Veterinary Sciences

Veterinary sciences have long been pursued as a source of knowledge to prevent animals from becoming sick and diagnosing and treating sick ones. As human life diversifies and becomes more sophisticated, fields of veterinary sciences are expanding: the scope including improvement of animals’ health is expanded to encompass wide-ranging life science-related fields, including public health (of humans), drug development, animal protection and environmental protection. This department offers studies that allow students to acquire high-level practical knowledge and techniques of veterinarians and wide-ranging applicable knowledge in wildlife medicine.

This department is willing to accept:

  1. Those who have basic knowledge in natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics in particular) required as basis for studying veterinary sciences
  2. Those who have eagerness and initiative to solve problems with wide awareness and deep insight
  3. Those who have a spirit of providing welfare to people and animals
